WOYWW 630 - All Piled Up

Good morning from a very sunny Pembrokeshire.  Perhaps we will be able to go out without a coat today?  It is Wednesday again and the last day of the month (where did June go?!).  If you would like to join in with this tour around crafty workspaces, click HERE.

My craft room this week is looking very different.  I finally made the decision to order the Ikea Kallax storage that I had been considering for a while (a cube storage system) and my delivery date for most of it is this Friday.  Therefore, I have emptied all of the old 'brown' bedroom furniture that I had been using for over 11 years, and my crafty stash is now piled up in the corner of the room.  The 2 heavy wardrobes are waiting for hubby (and colleagues) to take outside (my stepdaughter is going to have them in the house in Haverfordwest when she moves there in August).

The Kallax will be going up against the end wall.  I have just ordered the ones that are the right height to fit across the room below where the sloping ceiling starts.   That is 24 cubes.  I have ordered 12 white boxes and 6 denim ones (going to get some 'proper' inserts for storing papers etc when my budget allows).  I will then measure again to see how to fill in the 'sloping' top part, and order more cubes for that.  Hopefully by next Wednesday, it will all basically be up and in use.  I am sure it will take some time to get it organised in the best way.

If you wondered where the guinea pigs are, they are now in a fancy new hutch out in a stable on the yard.  It is cooler for them on a hot day (my craft room can get stuffy if the door and windows are shut all day) and the hay/bedding etc is right next to them.  Much easier for me to clean them out and no more dust/hay in my craft room.  I am missing their constant company though.

I am having a busy week partly due to the big craft room clearout.  I went to the tip with a load yesterday and have an appointment to drop lots of bags off at the charity shop this afternoon.  Also sorting out the rental house.  Most of the wallpaper has been stripped.  The greenhouse was taken away (stepdaughter didn't want to use it, and a hazard with the 2 young children).  Our decorator decided that he wouldn't be able to do the work by our deadline, but hubby/colleagues are going to do the internal work and our builder is arranging for the external painting (which will save money - more budget to spend on the kitchen!).  We are going to the kitchen and flooring supplier this week hopefully to choose the styles/colours we want.  I have already chosen Metro tiles for the walls in the kitchen/bathroom/cloakroom etc.  I think they look great - and nice to keep it simple.  If anyone wants to see progress photos, I post regularly on my Instagram @homewithchronicpain.

For those who loved our Renault Twizy, it is now being using around the farm - and we take it for its MOT on Friday.  I have had a drive and been a passenger in the back - "such fun" !!

ps  Forgot to add that I have been trialling the HelloFresh boxes for a while, and loving the tasty recipes.  I had some free boxes to give away, and have one left (plus have a code for £20 off).  If anyone wants to try it out, just email me (aliwadedesigns1971@gmail.com).

So it’s like a quad with a roof? great for a busy farm, how fab, and as you say, fun too!
Will be fab to have a wall of storage to keep your stuff in one place, good luck with the assembly and sorting, that’ll keep you quiet for a good while!! Bet you do miss the squeaker guineas, golly now you’ll just have to sit in the cool of the stable and play with them…tough life!!

I don't envy you the clear out. You sound like you have it under control, though. Your to do list is really long, considering you are also getting a new kitchen and bath, while also rearranging your craft room. I wish you luck with that. That's an adorable Renault, too. Happy WOYWW from # 12.

That Twizy makes me smile, I’m impressed that it can cope with the off road parts of the farm, brilliant! Your craft room is going to be brilliant with all that new storage and how fab that the old furniture is repurposed. It would be great to see you whenever, G and I are not going away until Sept at least so name your day and if we’re around, it would be great to see you. Or we can have a drive over to you, either will be good!

You'll find those units so useful Ali especially if you can get the right bits to fit the unusual areas. You'll be much tidier than I am and not throw everything into those boxes like I do.
Hope the Guinea's enjoy the outdoor space, don't forget to show them your crafty makes, they will miss them hee hee.

I do like your little vehicle. I need to buy a new scooter, my current one is too heavy for the constant in and out of the boot. I can’t actually lift any part of it! Sounds as if your craft room is going to be lovely and organised, we do tend to make do for a long time don’t we. Happy WOYWW Angela #7

I have a previous version of the Kallax, sideless, and the three middle sections are double wide, so would fit two cubes. It is SO useful but having sides would make it a bit more sturdy - it has to be 25+ years old, so POOP to people who say Ikea furniture is cheap or not well made. Your little furry friends will be mising you too, I'm sure but enjoying the outside air, for now. Love your enclosed Twizy (!) but what an odd looking thing it is. Long may the sun last!

Happy WOYWW!

A friend of mine has that storage in what used to be her craft room (long story but it is slowly being turned back into a craft room) and it looks fabulous. She often does videos for Instagram showing the room - she has mood lighting too but that was mainly for its last use - she is a beauty therapist who has been lured back into crafting.
It sounds awfully busy at your house - lots going on, should be plenty to blog about.

You have a very busy week ahead of you, but I'm sure when it's all done and dusted it will be fab! I look forward to seeing the finished room! When we had Guinea Pigs they constantly squeaked, I'm assuming that's what you are missing! They are so cute and cuddly, but probably better off where it's cooler. Have a great week, Lindart #34

Craft room clearing and reorganising seems to be the vogue on WOYWW these days, Ali! Well done with yours. Your new storage system sounds brilliant and I can't wait to see it. It sounds as if you are so busy what with that, and the rental house as well. I love your new little vehicle - it's so cute!! Could you bring the guineas in for a little whie in a temporary hutch in your room - just so that you don't miss them? I'm sure they'd enjoy the company too.

Thank you for your visit - I really appreciate your advice and know it is sound. If I get as much done as possible this week, I can relax next week in the run-up to Friday's operation. My cooking is going really well. I'm glad you like the card I made.

Happy WOYWW,

I've been eyeing the IKEA Kallax storage system as well. What I like about it is that you can configure it any way you like to fit your space - I just don't have any free space for it LOL! Perhaps the vehicle is bigger than it seems but I can't see how would fit in the back as a passenger, unless in a trailer! Thanks for your visit Ali! Have a lovely weekend! xx zsuzsa #31
